The paramount chief of the Wechiau traditional area, Wechiau Naa, Imoro Nadong Gomah II has bestowed his blessings upon Wa West District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon Diorotey Vida (DVS), as she filed her nominations to contest the Wa West NPP parliamentary Primaries.
This marks a significant milestone as Hon Diorotey Vida becomes the first female parliamentary aspirant in the constituency, breaking a 19-year streak of male dominance.
On Sunday, August 6th, 2023, Hon Diorotey Vida submitted her nomination forms and paid a courtesy visit to Wechiau Naa, and the first Wa West NPP constituency Chairman as well as the Tendaanba, seeking their blessings for her campaign.
She expressed her gratitude for their support and emphasized her commitment to running a healthy campaign that includes everyone.
Hon Diorotey Vida acknowledged the importance of having a woman represent the NPP in the constituency, as the party had been unsuccessful in capturing the seat from the NDC in the past five attempts with male candidates. She firmly believes that the NPP can win the seat with a woman, and it is time for the party to embrace this change.
